Bed Linen
We are proud to craft beautiful bed linen of a trusted quality and luxurious feel. Always check individual labels, but to ensure the best comfort and performance from your new purchase, we offer the following general advice:
Cotton: We recommend a 40°C gentle machine wash, a warm tumble dry setting, and a hot steam iron. To protect the fibres and for superior colour retention, use mild detergents containing no Optical brighteners apart from with your white linens.
Linen: Sheridan Linen blends are washable and we recommend a 30°C gentle wash, using a mild detergent. Line dry whites in the sunlight but keep colours under shade. Tumble drying is not recommended. A soft rumpled look is a characteristic of Linen but excessive creases can be removed with a hot steam iron.
Silk: Treat delicate silks gently. We find the best result to preserve the sheen is to dry-clean only. If you choose to hand wash, or machine wash on the gentlest cycle, use cold water and turn inside out before washing. Only use mild detergents such as a wool mix or a specialist silk detergent. Bleaches should never be used on silk. Hang on the line to dry. Do not tumble dry. For long-term storage, silk should be sealed against light, air and insects.
Towels
Our towel collection offers you beautiful daily bathroom comfort and luxury. Always check individual care labels, but to keep the colour, softness and absorbency, we offer the following general advice:
To improve absorbancy, we recommend that you wash your towels before their first use. We recommend 40°C warm gentle machine washing your towels for best results. Do not dry clean. To protect the fibres and for superior colour retention, use mild detergents such as those with a eucalyptus base. NEVER use chlorine bleach and beware of cleaning products that do. They may cause permanent stains. Attend to stains promptly before they set, using only oxygen-based stain removers, soakers or mild detergent. Only use optical brighteners to keep whites looking bright.
Separate light towels from dark. It is normal in the first wash for small amounts of excess dye to be shed from darker towels. Fully dissolve your chosen washing agent before adding towels, and use only the recommended amount. Don't overcrowd the machine. We recommend occasional deep cleansing to remove oils and kill any bacteria using a warm to hot washing cycle (40°-60°C). Avoid using silicone-based fabric softeners and conditioners, as they repel water and will reduce the absorbency of your towels, weakening the fabric over time.
Remove towels promptly from the washing machine to prevent mildew. Shake towels before and after drying to fluff up the fibres for softness and absorbency. Choose a warm or medium tumble dryer setting. The hottest setting will make towels feel harsh. Save electricity by air-drying towels, out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. Finish off by tumble-drying for a few minutes while still slightly damp for maximum softness.
